Encapsulated by the limerick:

God in the Quad

There was a young man who said "God
Must find it exceedingly odd
To think that the tree
Should continue to be
When there's no one about in the quad."

Reply:
"Dear Sir: Your astonishment's odd;
I am always about in the quad.
And that's why the tree
Will continue to be
Since observed by, Yours faithfully, God."

However I put it as "participating in God's conception of the world" which is slightly different. God doesn't perceive the world. Rather the world in all it's details is held in the mind of God which he allows us access to. Replace 'God' with a notion of 'the whole' and...

...if we view ourselves as 'waves' in a much larger 'ocean of consciousness' then maybe it isn't so difficult. In this case, each of us experiences ourselves as an "open space" in which content arises, from a particular world-perspective. The content isn't made from anything, there is no underlying solidity, it's just sensations/perceptions floating in space. Meanwhile, the global perspective is inaccessible to us, but is persistent.

e.g. Non-duality and intersubjectivity:
http://heartofnow.com/files/images/greg.talk.conference.pdf
http://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0125/1442/t/2/assets/presence-sample.pdf
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
